The Big Issue Group is launching its first membership scheme as it looks to inspire both consumers and businesses to take “collective action” and help it tackle the UK’s increasing poverty crisis.
The social enterprise, best known for its weekly magazine distributed by those who are experiencing homelessness, as well via newsstands and through subscriptions, believes its “inclusive” scheme will help to support its “broader mission” of helping those impacted by poverty.
“There is a real sense of outrage and anger around the poverty crisis in the UK,” CMO Zoe Hayward tells Marketing Week. “People want to be able to support organisations that are making change.”
