ITV promotes Jane Stiller to chief viewer officer

The broadcaster has promoted its CMO to a newly created role to unite its marketing functions.

ITVX MW Awards 2023Jane Stiller has been promoted to chief viewer officer at ITV as the broadcaster reshapes its marketing function to “grow audiences and revenue”.

Announcing the news on LinkedIn, Stiller explained that the new role will “bring together” its brand, marketing, insights, digital product, subscription and distribution teams under one roof with the goal to “deliver amazing viewer experiences, grow audiences and revenue”.

It is a significant expansion of the remit of her former role as CMO and could be seen as reward for her successful part in launching ITVX, the broadcaster’s streaming service, which went live at the end of 2022.

Marketing Week reported in May that the number of hours streamed on the platform grew by 16% over the same period last year amid a pledge to increase marketing spend by an additional £15m over the course of the year.

It has not all been plain sailing for the broadcaster, however, as it announced in May it would be cutting roughly 200 jobs as part of a restructuring effort to save £50m per year. Stiller made reference to the “bittersweet” nature of her appointment paying tribute to the “exceptionally talented” members of staff who will be moving on from the business.

Stiller has worked at ITV for over five years, starting as director of media in 2019 before being promoted to CMO in December 2020. She started her career at Mars before a short stint at Innocent Drinks which she followed up with four years at Marks & Spencer.

She was been named one of Marketing Week’s Top 100 Most Effective Marketers in 2023 and is a former Marketing Academy Scholar.
