Rival retailers Aldi and Ikea are hard on the heels of M&S, with four nominations each. That tally is matched by travel brands Uber, Transport for London and Travelport, and by the BBC.

Elsewhere, the British Heart Foundation, Canon, Hiscox, Sky UK and Kraft Heinz, Virgin Media O2 and Warner Bros Discovery UK&I have each been nominated in three categories.

The categories span several channels, sectors and strategic requirements. Team and long term brand build excellence are all celebrated.

The shortlist was decided by an expert panel of 61 senior brand marketers, tasked with whittling down entries for categories spanning various sectors, channels and specialist categories.

The judging panel for the 2024 Awards includes Asda vice-president of marketing Adam Zavalis, Henkel Consumer Brands marketing and digital director Nikki Vadera, Boots CMO Pete Markey, John Lewis’s customer director Charlotte Lock, BBC Studios senior vice-president of marketing Shelley Macintyre and Royal Mail managing director for marketing and digital Sonia Sudhakar.

Russell Parsons, Editor in Chief of Marketing Week, says: “It’s really important to celebrate and champion success. It’s been a really tough few years and our shortlist should be held up as examples of best practice and acknowledged for demonstrating what’s possible.

“Our judges our amongst the smartest, and most discerning in marketing so if you have made the shortlist you know you have earned your place.”

All winners will be unveiled at a ceremony in London in November.

The Brand of the Year shortlist will be announced later this week, while Marketer of the Year, the Talent Trailblazer award and the Grand Prix winner will be unveiled at the November ceremony.
