Guardian News & Media has struck a deal with Reuters to sell advertising space on the guardian.co.uk site to US advertisers. The move is aimed at expanding the site’s US presence.
The website will be sold alongside Reuters.com and the recently launched Reuters Affiliate Network, a number of news sites and blogs targeted at business professionals.
Guardian.co.uk is the most visited newspaper website in the UK. According to the latest Audit Bureau of Circulations electronic results, it had almost 16 million unique users in December 2007, with up to 5 million US users viewing the site each month.
Adam Freeman, commercial director of Guardian News & Media, says: “Through Reuters’ sales team, advertisers can more effectively reach our growing and discerning audience, and our US users will be served with more relevant advertising.”
The Guardian previously worked with Value Click, which dealt with enquiries from US advertisers, but the new deal aims to take a more proactive approach.
