Revived Red Letter Days seeks agency ahead of rebranding

Gift voucher business Red Letter Days is looking for an advertising agency to overhaul its image and help it relaunch after coming out of administration.

The experience company’s newly appointed managing director Stuart Henry says he wants to re-establish the brand in the public eye and develop the company’s marketing operation.

Henry, who was Orange UK director of sales before joining Red Letter Days two weeks ago, is looking to reposition and rebrand the business, which is now trading again.

“The company has come out of this a little battered and bruised,” he says, adding that he wants Red Letter Days to reclaim its spot as the premier experience company in the country.

He claims the brand is strong enough to “stretch into other areas that are not just experience-based”.

He says he is planning a rebranding exercise first and has not ruled out an advertising campaign. He is also seeking to appoint “one or two” dedicated marketers as the company adopts a “more classical” structure.

Red Letter Days was founded in 1989 by Rachel Elnaugh, who later found fame as a panelist on television show Dragon’s Den.

The company hit financial trouble this summer and was put into administration. In August, entrepreneurs Peter Jones and Theo Paphides, two of Elnaugh’s co-stars on the TV show created a rescue package for the troubled company and have now resurrected the brand.
