Tony Kaye’s greenbacks for a green book
Journalists are obsessive about their notebooks, but even the Diary wouldn’t claim that its notebook is a work of art (in the past, some have wrongly accused it of being a work of fiction) or, indeed, that it is worth $14m (9m).
But the irrepressible advertising director Tony Kaye would. Advertisements in the New York papers are offering a reward of $1,000 (645), subsequently bumped up to a generous $3,000 (1,935), for the return of his green pocket book – aka a $14m artwork – which was left in a New York cab.
The book contains sketches, notes and ideas for future work. Kaye fears that if it falls into the wrong hands the world could be a less safe place.
The Diary fears that if it falls into the wrong hands the world could be visited by a second Tony Kaye. Anybody with information on the missing notebook should keep it to themselves.
